A PORTFOLIO FOR FOLEY

This page is tailored to the team at Alchemy Studios. I have gone through and chosen some of my most recent projects that relate to Foley!

ONOMATO

Position: Foley Artist/Sound Supervisor/Creative Director

This was a film that I initially pitched to my friend as a commercial for the new clothing line he was about to launch. The idea of the film was to create a line of products that represent the sound that you make when you crash, otherwise known as onomatopoeias. As Sound Supervisor I wanted to create a fun and goofy feel that fit the vibe of the brand. We spent 3 hours in the Studio recording skateboard sound effects live to picture.

Position: Live Foley Artist

TRAGEDY OF CARMEN

Utilizing a mix of engaging Sound Effects cued with an Ableton Live Launchpad, and live recorded Foley Performance, I provided the background effects and prop effects for this Radio play style Opera.

I used looped ambiances to help build the spaces my director envisioned. Sat down with the director before rehearsal to get a list of Foley props and ran through the performance on my own to nail down timing. On top of my traditional Foley performance, I also acted and contributed to the story.

ODYSSEY

Position: Foley Artist

A crowd Funded Fan Film, that was shot in the Savannah area and at Tybee Island. I was on a team with two other Foley Artists. Since we were trying to replicate the feel of the Star Wars Universe we stayed true to the Sky Walker Studios approach to Foley. To record the sound we used a U87, instead of the industry standard 416 Shotgun microphone.

This Film also went on to win 2 Student Emmy Awards. One being for Sound Design.

Director: Mark Alex Voght Sound Supervisor: Ryan Sullivan

Position: Foley Artist

THE FRAY

An action-heavy film like this requires a lot of low-end hits, and impacts to fully engage the audience. To accomplish this we used a mixture of Contact and Lav Mics strategically placed close to where we were performing.

Director: Davi Pena.

RACING THE SUNSET

Position: Foley Artist/Sound

Supervisor

A SCAD Senior Animation that was accepted into 16 festivals. It for Best Animated Film by both the Alternative Film Festival and the Georgia Shorts Film Festival.

I managed a team of 5 sound designers while overseeing progress and growth with the project. Some of the roles I took up on the project included Foley, Sound Editing, and VO recordist. We had other roles like Re-Recording Mixer, BG Editor, Composer, etc. filled by other sound designers on the team.

REDESIGN

NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN

Position: Foley Artist/Sound Supervisor/Creative Director

Being a huge fan of the Coen brothers, I set out to redesign one of my favorite scenes from No Country of Old Men.

I find the tension and suspense that is created from the slight subtle movements in the scene gives you chills. I wanted to test my skills with a scene like this by focusing solely on subtle details that can only be captured by an Foley performance.
